The up and coming fashion designer, Jennifer Lee Gutierrez, has dreamt about making her own clothes for years. After noticing her interests increase and designing simple, yet classy dresses on a budget, she made a sudden decision to drop her career in education to study & pursue fashion. Jennifer’s appetite to bring newness into fashion has captivated her entirely.
She created XioLee Apparel with the aim of designing dresses and other apparel that make her feel comfortable, beautiful, sexy, sassy and classy. XioLee’s Apparel designs do not only appeal to the successful, powerful sophisticated woman, but also to the woman who wants to express her fun, sassy, sexy and classy sides as well. |
Jennifer Lee was born in The South Bronx to Dominican parents. She later found out that her late mother was a fashionista and at some point in life made her own clothes. Although fashion was not her first love, Jennifer has always had an appreciation for it.
When she moved to Japan in 2012, Jennifer was captivated by the elegance in the Japanese fashion industry for women. This motivated her decision to someday make her own clothes. Yet, that idea expanded to making clothes for other women too. |
After her return to the states, in late 2018, Jennifer was accepted into Custom Collaborative, a nonprofit organization geared to train and support immigrant and low-income women to become fashion designers and/or work as leaders in the fashion industry.
In January 2019, Jennifer was accepted in the Brooklyn Fashion Academy (BFA) where she created a capsule collection called The Metamorphic Woman and presented it in mid-2019 at the Brooklyn Central Library. Towards the end of May 2019, StylePointe accepted XioLee Apparel’s looks from the Brooklyn Fashion Academy. StylePointe paired Jennifer with a choreographer who trained professional dancers to perform the collection in September. At this time, the designer is continuing her education on perfecting her designing skills in order to develop some amazing looks in 2020 as well as collaborate with designers and artists of various backgrounds to create a fusion of art. |
